CINERASMUS: The Baader Meinhof Complex (ENG)

The Baader Meinhof Complex (2008) by Uli Edel

The birth, evolution and progress of the RAF, Germany's most prominent left-wing militant group. The RAF described itself as a communist and anti-imperialist "urban guerrilla" group engaged in armed resistance against what they indicated as police state. The movie tells facts and events that occurred between the Benno Ohnesorg’s homicide  and death of the first-generation leaders, through the hijacking of Lufthansa and the 1972 Munich Olympic Games. The moving picture is characterized by violence and action, without forgetting the ideological and political points of view, necessary background to fully understand the protagonists’ actions. An interesting film that focuses on the historical value of those years, where powerful states oppress the weak (the Vietnam War, e.g ) and terrorism sowed fear of those who governed.

Vote: 7.5
